This is done by creating a custom field in the product&#8217;s record, putting the information you want to add in there, and then using a custom document to display that information in a column.<\/p>\n<p>To demonstrate, we will use our sample sales document and add the &#8220;Manufacturer&#8221; column, added as a custom field under <em>Main Menu &gt; Options &gt; Settings<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n<h2>Opening a sample document<\/h2>\n\n<p><div class=\"article-image\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-16141 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/onpremise.inflowinventory.com\/support\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/4\/2014\/04\/33821234_1.gif\" alt=\"Custom Document settings\" width=\"1014\" height=\"731\" \/><\/div><\/p>\n\n<p><strong>First, open a sample document:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Go to <em>Main Menu &gt; Options &gt; Print Settings<\/em><\/li>\n<li>Choose <em>Custom Docs<\/em>\u00a0from the icons on the left<\/li>\n<li>Click the <em>Add New Custom Doc<\/em>\u00a0button.<\/li>\n<li>Choose the Sales document <em>Header and Line items<\/em>.<\/li>\n<li>Click <em>Open Sample<\/em>.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Once you&#8217;ve done this, it should open up in Microsoft Word. Next we will need to link the document to a proper data source (which contains all the custom field information).<\/p>\n<p><strong>To link your document:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Open your sample document \/ template.<\/li>\n<li>Click the <em>Mailings<\/em> Ribbon and choose<em> Start Mail Merge<\/em>.<\/li>\n<li>Choose <em>Directory<\/em> from the list.<\/li>\n<li>Click <em>Select Recipients<\/em> and choose <em>Use Existing List&#8230;<\/em><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n<p><div class=\"article-image\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-16131 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/onpremise.inflowinventory.com\/support\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/4\/2014\/04\/33821234_2.gif\" alt=\"Microsoft Word mail merge\" width=\"716\" height=\"316\" \/><\/div><\/p>\n\n<p>This will open a window in where you can browse to the correct data source (CSV file). There are four available which can be found in <code>C:\\Program Files\\inFlow Inventory\\CustomDocument<\/code>.<\/p>\n\n<p><div class=\"article-image\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-16151 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/onpremise.inflowinventory.com\/support\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/4\/2014\/04\/33821234_3.png\" alt=\"Data source\" width=\"706\" height=\"507\" srcset=\"https:\/\/onpremise.inflowinventory.com\/support\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/4\/2014\/04\/33821234_3.png 706w, https:\/\/onpremise.inflowinventory.com\/support\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/4\/2014\/04\/33821234_3-300x215.png 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 706px) 100vw, 706px\" \/><\/div><\/p>\n\n<p>For this example, choose <strong>Sample_Sales_SalesOrderLines.CSV, <\/strong>it contains all the available tags from a sales order including items, sales pricing, sales order info etc. Now that you&#8217;ve linked your document to that source file you can move on to the next section, adding a column &amp; tags.<\/p>\n\n<h2>Add a column and tags<\/h2>\n<p>The body of the document contains a table for the item names, descriptions, prices, etc. Add a column and adjust the size\/width. Then go to the<em> Main Menu &gt; Options &gt; Settings &gt; Custom Fields<\/em>. Compare your own screen to this example screenshot:<\/p>\n\n<p><div class=\"article-image\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-16121 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/onpremise.inflowinventory.com\/support\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/4\/2014\/04\/33821234_4.png\" alt=\"Custom fields settings\" width=\"596\" height=\"604\" srcset=\"https:\/\/onpremise.inflowinventory.com\/support\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/4\/2014\/04\/33821234_4.png 596w, https:\/\/onpremise.inflowinventory.com\/support\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/4\/2014\/04\/33821234_4-296x300.png 296w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 596px) 100vw, 596px\" \/><\/div><\/p>\n<p>Referencing the above, if you wanted the column in your custom document to show the information listed in the 2nd position of your settings, then you would look for &#8220;ItemCustom2&#8221; in the <em>Insert Merge Field<\/em>\u00a0drop-down selection in Microsoft Word.<\/p>\n<p>In our example, we want to show the Manufacturer information, which is on the 6th position so the tag we want to add is ItemCustom6.<\/p>\n\n<p><div class=\"article-image\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-16111 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/onpremise.inflowinventory.com\/support\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/4\/2014\/04\/33821234_5.png\" alt=\"Sample document with column\" width=\"1060\" height=\"817\" srcset=\"https:\/\/onpremise.inflowinventory.com\/support\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/4\/2014\/04\/33821234_5.png 1060w, https:\/\/onpremise.inflowinventory.com\/support\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/4\/2014\/04\/33821234_5-300x231.png 300w, https:\/\/onpremise.inflowinventory.com\/support\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/4\/2014\/04\/33821234_5-768x592.png 768w, https:\/\/onpremise.inflowinventory.com\/support\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/4\/2014\/04\/33821234_5-1024x789.png 1024w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1060px) 100vw, 1060px\" \/><\/div><\/p>\n\n<p>You might have noticed after adding a column, Word shifted the other columns to the right. It&#8217;s a little tricky to resize the columns to fit in the table, so we recommend replacing tags in an existing column. Here&#8217;s an example of the <a href=\"https:\/\/cdn2.inflowinventory.com\/inFlowWebsite\/Resources\/Invoice-InclCustomColumn.doc\">finished document with a custom column + tags<\/a>. Replace the column with whichever tag you like, by selecting it from the\u00a0<em>Insert Merge Field<\/em> setting.\u00a0<strong>Do not manually type in a tag name<\/strong>, it will not work that way.<\/p>\n<p>When you&#8217;re satisfied with your document, <a href=\"https:\/\/onpremise.inflowinventory.com\/support\/article\/30820870\/how-do-i-useprint-my-custom-document\/\">import it into inFlow begin using it<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>In inFlow On-Premise you can&#8217;t add columns to the order window, but you can add them to the printed documents generated through the order.
