{"id":3286,"date":"2014-05-13T21:45:04","date_gmt":"2014-05-14T01:45:04","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.inflowinventory.com\/support\/article\/3286\/how-do-i-create-and-complete-a-sales-order\/"},"modified":"2018-09-28T15:39:51","modified_gmt":"2018-09-28T19:39:51","slug":"how-do-i-create-and-complete-a-sales-order","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/onpremise.inflowinventory.com\/support\/article\/38282860\/how-do-i-create-and-complete-a-sales-order\/","title":{"rendered":"How do I create and complete a sales order in inFlow On-Premise?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Sales orders in inFlow On-Premise let you track items that you sell to your customers. inFlow will automatically assign an order number the first time you save the order. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Even if you don\u2019t need to track sales or sell any product, completed sales orders deduct inventory and can be used to record outgoing stock.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>To create a sales order:<\/b><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Click <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Main Menu &gt;<\/span><\/i> <i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Sales<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> &gt; <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">New Sales Order<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> .<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Begin by adding your customer information at the top of the order:<\/span>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">If your customer is already in the system, you\u2019ll see them highlighted as you type their name into the <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Customer<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> field<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">If your customer is not in your system yet, continue typing out the full customer name and click <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Add New<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> to create a new record for them. As you fill out their contact information, inFlow will automatically save it to their product record.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Add items to your order by clicking into the <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Item<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> column and entering your product name. <\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<blockquote><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"><strong>TIP<\/strong>: When adding items to your order, you can filter your product selection by clicking <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Show Search <\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">in the product table. This allows you to quickly search for your products by vendor, category, price and other fields &#8211; right from the order! <\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><div class=\"article-image\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-26529\" src=\"https:\/\/onpremise.inflowinventory.com\/support\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/4\/2014\/05\/22119_2.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"1016\" height=\"734\" srcset=\"https:\/\/onpremise.inflowinventory.com\/support\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/4\/2014\/05\/22119_2.png 1016w, https:\/\/onpremise.inflowinventory.com\/support\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/4\/2014\/05\/22119_2-300x217.png 300w, https:\/\/onpremise.inflowinventory.com\/support\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/4\/2014\/05\/22119_2-768x555.png 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1016px) 100vw, 1016px\" \/><\/div><\/p>\n<p><b>To complete a sales order:<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Click\u00a0<\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Fulfill\u00a0<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">when your customer has received the items on the order. This will move the items <\/span><i style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">out<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> of your inventory. <\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">If your customer has not yet paid you, you can click the arrow button beside <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Mark Paid<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> and select <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Mark invoiced<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">. This will move the order to an <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Invoiced<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> status. Printing an <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Invoice<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> document will automatically mark the order as <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Invoiced<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">. <\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">If <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">your customer has paid for part of the order, you can put that amount into the &#8220;Paid&#8221; field to keep track.
