{"id":25977,"date":"2018-07-13T16:13:53","date_gmt":"2018-07-13T20:13:53","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/onpremise.inflowinventory.com\/support\/?p=25977"},"modified":"2018-07-18T11:21:24","modified_gmt":"2018-07-18T15:21:24","slug":"my-products-movement-history-shows-a-different-quantity-than-the-historical-inventory-report","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/onpremise.inflowinventory.com\/support\/article\/25977\/my-products-movement-history-shows-a-different-quantity-than-the-historical-inventory-report\/","title":{"rendered":"My product\u2019s Movement History shows a different quantity than the Historical Inventory report!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">These two reports aren\u2019t meant to be compared because they generate data based on different dates: <\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The Historical Inventory report relies on the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/onpremise.inflowinventory.com\/support\/whats-the-difference-between-quantity-on-handquantity-available-etc\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">quantity owned<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">, which goes by the <\/span><b><i>shipped date<\/i><\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> if shipping is turned on, or by<\/span> <b><i>invoice date<\/i><\/b> <span style=\"font-weight: 400\">if shipping is turned off on a sales order. <\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The Movement History tab (or report) relies on <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/onpremise.inflowinventory.com\/support\/whats-the-difference-between-quantity-on-handquantity-available-etc\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">quantity on hand<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">, which is determined by the<\/span><b><i> pick date<\/i><\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> on a sales order. <\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<blockquote><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">On older versions of inFlow On-Premise, where pick date is not available, a product\u2019s Movement History goes by the <\/span><b><i>order date<\/i><\/b> <span style=\"font-weight: 400\">instead. <\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">In other words, the Historical Inventory report records that a product is removed from inventory on the shipped or invoiced date, while the Movement History records that the product is removed from inventory on the picked date. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">With this in mind, it&#8217;s important to remember that the data you see in both reports is still accurate &#8211; but you may see a difference in the quantity displayed if your sales order shipped\/invoice date is different than the order date.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">How to check if the sales order shipped\/invoice date is different than the pick date<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><strong>If you have shipping turned off:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">You can toggle between <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Order Date<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> and<\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> Invoice Date<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> on a sales order by clicking the small black arrow next to the field dropdown, like in the screenshot below: <\/span><\/p>\n<p><div class=\"article-image\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-25871\" src=\"https:\/\/onpremise.inflowinventory.com\/support\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/4\/2018\/06\/25869_1.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"1016\" height=\"718\" srcset=\"https:\/\/onpremise.inflowinventory.com\/support\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/4\/2018\/06\/25869_1.png 1016w, https:\/\/onpremise.inflowinventory.com\/support\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/4\/2018\/06\/25869_1-300x212.png 300w, https:\/\/onpremise.inflowinventory.com\/support\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/4\/2018\/06\/25869_1-768x543.png 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1016px) 100vw, 1016px\" \/><\/div><\/p>\n<p><strong>If you have shipping turned on:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">If shipping is turned on, the Historical Inventory report will go by the product\u2019s shipped date.
